Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare millinery tools and equipment and work area
- Spread materials or fabrications and place millinery patterns
- Materials and fabrications are collected and checked for quality, width and pressing and steaming requirements
- Cutting requirements are confirmed with design specification and pattern information
- Materials or fabrications are spread single layer, and adjusted according to pattern requirements
- Materials or fabrications are checked for faults and required action taken to eliminate or isolate faults
- Full patternsare placed on materials or fabrications according to specifications, ensuring that Left and Right side patterns are according to requirements of an asymmetric design if relevant.
- Pattern shapes are marked on materials and fabrications according to requirements of the material and job
- Cut out millinery pattern shapes
- Materials and fabrications are cut using cutting equipment in accordance with requirements for the operation
- Cut work is inspected, any faults identified and appropriate action taken to ensure the cut pieces meet the required quality standards
- OHS practices are followed to prevent accidents and to eliminate risks to personal safety
- Assemble and join all cut millinery pieces together
- Assembly process is planned
- Work pieces are laid out in sequence
- Machinery for assembly process is set up and operated in accordance with type of operation, fabric and OHS practices
- Cut pieces are joined together in accordance with work plan and quality standards and procedures
- Action is taken to either reject or correct faults
- Sewn millinery is blocked, moulded, and sized according to specifications
- Finish millinery
